Love is in the Air…

Happy Heart Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This year I (Joey) decided to leave my Christmas tree up and make it Valentine’s Tree! I only kept the red balls and added sticker hearts. All the actual Christmas stuff got put away. What? Do you think the tree is Christmas stuff? Hahaha, not anymore!

To go with the theme, I put a red tinsel heart inside a grapevine heart wreath that I wrapped in red lights. It is hanging on the “loopy” Christmas tree yard light. I left the tree’s lights off, so the heart floats! Another large tinsel heart hangs over the fireplace. Anything red got to stay in for Valentine’s Day, except Santa.

I’m not usually one to celebrate Valentine’s Day to this extent. Really, I just wanted an excuse to keep on my cheery Christmas lights inside and outside! This has been a hard year for everyone. Some harder than others. I didn’t want to annoy my neighbors with Christmas thru Spring, but wanted to add something to smile at.

We have about a foot of beautiful snow right now. It looks so pretty with my red hearts!

We wish you lots of hearts too.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays to everyone!

We all wish you a month or two of wonderful holiday fun, food, decorations and most of all love. The above artwork is a rare view of the Chicago skyline reflecting the sunset. I couldn’t help playing in Photoshop with this by adding the ornaments. Enjoy!

What can we say…2020

When this year started, I thought the 2020 vision. Seeing clearly what we should be doing in all the areas of our lives. Well…no. That is totally the opposite of what life has been.

2020 has been a year full of terms I even hate repeating, like, “In these unprecedented times” or “in times like these” and “in these uncertain times”. You probably can list a few too. The “flattening the curve” turned into something closer to “no one goes back to normal until we have 0 cases.” It is a bad virus, please do not misunderstand me. We probably know of someone who had/has this virus, some died. Some are still dealing with the lingering effects of it. Some didn’t have any symptoms. Etc Etc Etc.

Fear has been peddled everywhere and it can be debilitating. A summer full of violence, hatred, rioting, cancel culture, hopelessness, etc. Add to all that a contentious election cycle. No wonder we are all weary cannot wait for it to end. “2020” is not the visionary year I thought it would be.

In all the fogginess that is 2020, there are things to see clearly now, what is absolutely important and what isn’t. For me Faith, family, and friends. My neighbors became friends. My family became more precious. My faith in God became the most important thing. The other things I thought I would see clearly in 2020 I cannot remember.

I hope you had a epiphany of what to treasure and what to let go of in 2020 also.

Hi There!

Welcome to Beach Found Treasure.

Sometimes God gives us gifts. All the time really, if we carefully look.

Beach glass is one of those gifts. Years ago, while in art school, I (Joey) spent the day painting at the beach. A couple of people stopped to talk. One of them gave me a small handful of beach glass. My first ever. I was hooked.

Not long after that, Tamara bought a home near the beach. Every visit included a search for beach glass. A few years later, we got our own house near the beach! Now we try to walk the beach as often as possible to hunt for the gems and take photos of the ever-changing colors of Lake Michigan.

‘Beach Found Treasure’ was born during the incredibly stressful Baseball playoffs and World Series of 2016. Remember that one? The Chicago Cubs won! But the last week’s stress was enough to give Cub’s fans heart attacks!

To divert my attention during one of the last games, I showed Tamara and Linda my collection of beach glass. I was thinking of making a mosaic. The idea to make jewelry came up. Very Cool Idea!

A YouTube search found several videos on how to make simple wire wrapped sea glass jewelry. By Christmas, we were making and selling our beauties. Tamara, Kim, and Julia would come over and we’d talk, laugh, eat and create jewelry. FUN! We kept it up and had enough to sell on Etsy and craft shows. Now its time for our own website shop.

Welcome to our new space!       Joey
